Short and Sweet Sheep Farm is a small "hobby" farm on 2 1/2 acres located in
South Windsor, Connecticut (northeast of Hartford).
Gussie and Jake began raising chickens and rabbits for 4- H.
One thing led to another and Gussie was introduced to sheep by a former 4-H leader. We started with two black lambs, a ewe and a wether. Being impatient for the ewe to mature for breeding we looked into purchasing a mature breeding pair. Our internet search, timing and luck brought us to Dee & Don Lott in Missouri who were looking for a new home for their flock of nine Babydoll Southdowns. We purchased/adopted their 5 ewes and 4 rams and quickly became shepherds!!
Fast forward.....the kids have moved out on their own and in college and the sheep are mine!!! No more rabbits or chickens but in addition to the sheep we ocassionally have a few ducks or chickens, three Newfoundland and the latest addition a calico/tiger kitten named Chloe who is fearless.
